If you’re not crushing on Jesse Eisenberg, you’re doing it wrong. The Academy Award-nominated actor is all kinds of talented — and one of the most relatable public personalities out there.
With epic comedic timing and a flair for the dramatic, we’ve never met a Jesse Eisenberg role we didn’t love. He’s always managed to embed his unique personality within the characters he plays, including a magician-turned-con-artist in the Now You See Me franchise, DC Comic’s villain Lex Luther in Batman Vs. Superman, as well as Blu — a Spix’s macaw and star of the animated film Rio. Oh, and let’s not forget his iconic portrayal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Jesse is known for his shy, reversed, sarcastic presence — so he’s basically everyone on the Internet. Never one to take himself — or his celebrity status — too seriously, Eisenberg isn’t afraid to use a little (read: A LOT) of self-deprecation to get some laughs.
Plus, need we remind everyone he’s an author? Yeah, he wrote Bream Gives Me Hiccups — a collection of short stories about his life — and it’s EXACTLY what you would expect.
Thank you Jesse for fearlessly embracing your awkwardness. We find ourselves relating to you on a spiritual level because of it.
Here are the 10 times Jesse Eisenberg perfectly embodied our everyday awkwardness:
Clearly we’re on the same page when it comes to fashion:
Preach.
Body image game not so strong:
We’re with you Jesse.
This failed handshake speaks to us:
We understand the struggle.
Apologizing to inanimate objects is something we do on the daily:
PLANES HAVE FEELINGS TOO GUYS!
We relate to this moment on SO many levels:
Crushed by the crush. Classic.
Apparently he also doesn’t know how to “alcohol” properly:
We’ve all been there.
But seriously, he’s ACTUALLY us though:
SAME!
When you come up with a SICK, sassy comeback — but it backfires:
Dammit.
Reflecting on your childhood like:
This is everything.
Finally, when you don’t understand the concept of a group hug:
So. Much. Awkward.
